History
Valley County was founded on February 26, 1917. It got its name from the Long Valley (“Long Valley”), which stretches for almost 50 kilometers along Lake Cascade from the city of McCall in the north to Cascade in the south. The first white-skinned people who visited the lands of the district were trappers . However, the first permanent settlements were founded in the 1880s with the advent of pastoralists [2] . Until the middle of the 20th century, most of the valley was used as a summer pasture. With the construction of a dam on Lake Cascade in 1948, the northern part of the valley receded under the reservoir. The district is the range of the Aydah gophers Spermophilus brunneus .
