Activities

Music For Relief organized 2 charity concerts with guest celebrities. The first show was on January 17, 2005. It was attended by the satirical rock band Tenacious D (also helped organize the concert), Beck , Will Ferell , Dave Grohl , Josh Homme and Eddie Vedder . Linkin Park , Story of the Year , The Crystal Method , Camp Freddy , No Doubt and Jurassic 5 took part in the second show, which took place on February 15, 2005. As expected, Blink-182 was supposed to participate in the show, however, they canceled the performance for unknown reasons.

Music For Relief has helped plant more than 355,000 trees to reduce the impact of global warming. 100,000 trees were planted thanks to donations from the LPU.

On January 19, Linkin Park released a new song, “Not Alone,” which was included in the special charity music disc, “Music For Relief: Download to Donate for Haiti, ” featuring songs by artists such as Alanis Morissette , The All-American Rejects , Dave Matthews Band , Enrique Iglesias , Hoobastank , Kenna , Lupe Fiasco , Peter Gabriel , Slash , Jack Johnson , Weezer , Metric , The Crystal Method , Dinosaur Jr. , Mickey Hart , Guster .

The new charity album Download To Donate: Japan has a new instrumental track Linkin Park titled “Issho Ni” (translated from Japanese roughly as “Together”). Mike Shinoda spoke about this in an interview with KROQ radio station (in the 70th minute). The album was released free of charge in electronic form, it included tracks from various artists who decided to take part in the project. The release date will be announced later, but it is logical to assume that in the very near future.

“Does anyone want a new instrumental song from Linkin Park for the good purposes of Music For Relief for Japan?” Mike Shinoda asked rhetorically through his twitter (03/14/11).

Mike Shinoda made two T-shirt designs for the Linkin Park Music For Relief charity. Funds from the sale of T-shirts will be directed to help Japan, in which well-known tragic events took place.

On the Music For Relief organization’s website, you can watch the track list for the new charity album, which includes Linkin Park's new instrumental track “Issho Ni”.
