Tikhvin Uyezd is one of the districts of the Novgorod province and governorship (1773-1918), and then the Cherepovets province (1918-1927). The county town is Tikhvin .

History
Tikhvin County was formed in 1776 during the administrative reform of Catherine II . In the XIX century, since the administrative reform under Alexander I , it was the largest county in the province.
In 1897, the population of the county was 99,367 people , their native language was Russian - 90,290, Chudsky - 7136 , Karelian - 1371 [2] .
