The theme of Pauli ( eng. Pauly theme ), in a chess composition is an extended block task with twin positions in which the first move to solve one problem leads to the initial position of the other task and vice versa (perpetuum mobile, lat. Perpetuum mobile ). Named after the famous Romanian chess composer Wolfgang Pauli .
