Zborov ( Ukrainian: Zboriv ) is a city in the Ternopil region of Ukraine . It is the administrative center of the Zborovsky district and the Zborovsky city council, which also includes the village of Futory .

Geographical position
The town of Zborov is located on the banks of the Strypa River at the confluence of the Western Strypa and East Strypa rivers, the village of Mlynovtsy is located upstream at a distance of 1.5 km, the village of Futory is located at a distance of 0.5 km, upstream The Malaya Strypa River adjoins the village of Prisovtsy , upstream the Vostochnaya Strypa River at a distance of 1 km is the village of Tustogolovy . Several dams were made on the rivers.
History
The first mention of the village dates back to 1166 [2] [3] , when the settlement of Verkhostav was founded here , which was destroyed by the Mongol-Tatars in 1241 .
The first mention in the settlement of 3bor dates back to the 15th century .
In August 1649, near Zborov , the battle of the Zaporozhye Cossack army led by B. Khmelnitsky and his ally Khan Islam-Girey III with the Polish army led by King Jan II Casimir took place .
In July 1917, near Zborov , a battle took place between the Russian and Austro-Hungarian armies with the participation of the Czechoslovak Legion .
In the Republic of Poland
On September 1, 1939, German troops attacked the Polish Republic , the German-Polish war of 1939 began [4] .
On September 17, 1939, the Red Army of the Soviet Union entered the eastern regions of Poland - Western Ukraine. The campaign ended with the signing on September 28, 1939 of the Treaty of Friendship and the Border between the USSR and Germany [4] [5] .

During World War II on July 2, 1941 Zborov was occupied by advancing German troops [7]
July 20, 1944 during the Lviv-Sandomierz offensive operation (July 13 - August 29, 1944 was liberated by Soviet troops of the 38th Army and the 2nd Air Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front .
In January 1989, the population was6809 people [8] , the basis of the city’s economy at that time were a fruit and vegetable plant [2] and the production of building materials [3] .
Since December 8, 1991 as part of Ukraine.
In 1997, vocational school No 30 was liquidated [9] .
As of January 1, 2013, the population was 6923 people [10] .
