Adai ( Adai from Shamarshi ) is the Mari hundredth prince, a historical figure of the 16th century , one of the active participants in the Mari war of liberation .

He owned land in the upper reaches of the rivers Bolshaya and Malaya Kokshaga .
It is known about Adai that in the spring of 1567, together with Prince Kachak , he was negotiating with the Crimean Khan Devlet I Giray about joint actions. The Russian ambassador to the Crimea, Athanasius Nagoy, reported that in the spring in the Crimea messengers from the Nogai horde arrived in Devlet Girey with a request to send the prince with an army to march on Kazan:
“And the dei wrote to the king of Sotsk, Adai da Kochak Mamichberdeev’s son and all meadow cheremis so that the dei tsar sent the prince to them with military people. And how the prince comes to them with military people, and they dei want to retreat from the tsar and the grand duke. And the dei want to proceed to Kazan to the prison, and in the village of dei for all, the Moscow people will be our servants. And in the collection of dei we have meadow cheremis (l. 28 vol.) Sixty thousand. " [one]
He participated in the preparation of the rebel movement of the peoples of the Middle Volga, known as the Second Cheremis War in 1571 - 1574 , which began after the burning of Moscow by Devlet I Girey in 1571.
