Club career

Stuart Taylor was born in one of the northern suburbs of London , Romford, and it is not surprising that he started playing football at the local Arsenal academy. At the age of 17 he made the first professional contract with the club. The young goalkeeper failed to break into the base, and from 1999 to 2001 he repeatedly went on loan to get a match practice - Bristol Rovers (D3), Crystal Palace (D2) and Peterborough United (D3), where in total, spent 20 matches.

In November 2000, Taylor finally debuted for Arsenal in the League Cup match and, taking into account the experience of previous leases and a regular game for England youth teams, he approaches the 2001/02 season with a solid club number 2 behind the wide back of aging David Simen . Having played 15 matches for the club this season, 10 of them in the Premier League, the goalkeeper helped Arsenal to win the championship gold medals. The following season, the picture was repeated (13 games), and Taylor began to mentally prepare for the role of mate Seaman.

But it did not work out. The 2003/04 season Taylor completely missed due to a severe shoulder injury, and when he recovered from the injury, the club already had Jens Lehmann and Manuel Almunia . Lease and the regular game for Leicester City (D2) didn’t help much and in the summer of 2005 he left the club after the contract expired, having played only 30 matches in all tournaments for 8 years in all tournaments and collecting an impressive collection of trophies: NPS gold, Cup England and two Super Bowls.

In June 2005, Stewart signed a 4-year contract with Aston Villa , where he became the understudy of Thomas Sorensen [2] . Over the course of the seasons, the first Birmingham goalkeepers came and went: Carson , Guzan , Friedel , and Stewart still remained in deep reserve. For 4 years at the club goalkeeper played only 14 matches.

In 2009, the goalkeeper could enter into a rental agreement with Leeds, then Liga 1, but preferred to play for Cardiff City in the Championship (8 matches).

Then the goalkeeper in the summer of 2009 is signed by Manchester City [3] , where he does not play again - for three years Taylor played only 1 official game in the camp of the “citizens” in the FA Cup 2009/10 January 24, 2010 against Scunthorpe United .

In 2012 he moves to “ Reading ” [4] , but there again he masters the familiar role of the third goalkeeper. He left the club at the end of the 2013/14 season after the expiration of his contract.

On November 18, 2013, Taylor goes to Yeovil Town for a one-month lease, but Taylor’s lease was interrupted after two days.

July 3, 2014 Stuart Taylor entered into a one-year contract with Leeds United [5] . It seems that here he will have to master the well-known role of a reserve goalkeeper behind the back of a much younger Marco Silvestri .

On August 26, 2016, Taylor goes to Southampton , the contract is signed for one year. On July 13, 2017, Southampton announced that the Taylor contract was renewed for another year.

Career in the national team

Taylor played for the England youth team (under 20) at the 1999 World Championships . For the senior youth team of England (up to 21) played 4 matches.
