Marathon youth
Marathon young man - an ancient Greek bronze statue caught by fishermen from the Marathon Bay in 1925 and replenished the collection of the National Archaeological Museum of Athens . It is assumed that Hermes is depicted on it, although there are no attributes of this god. The soft muscular workout and the relaxed position of the counter post give out Praxiteles influence. With a raised right hand, the figure rested on a wall that no longer exists. The statue dates from the last quarter of the 4th century BC. e. The pose of a young man finds analogues in the art of Ancient Rome ( marble images of satyrs pouring wine ).
