History
The first tournament was held in 1913 , the prize was won between the Argentinean Kimberly and Uruguayan Central Espanyol . However, the final was canceled due to heavy rain.
Initially, the finals were played in turn in Argentina and Uruguay . In 1940, Boca Juniors left the field with a 2-2 draw. The title was awarded to the Uruguayan Nacional , but a little later, both associations ceased to clearly name the winner of this year. The Uruguayan Football Association and the Argentine Football Association discussed the situation on January 22, 1941 and announced that the subsequent finals would be two-match. This rule was violated in 1942 (when the second match was not played, and the prize was awarded to Nacional , the winner of the first match) and in 1955 (when the second match was not played, and the prize was not awarded), after which the tournament was more not played out due to a conflict with the calendars of national championships.
