Sum of open positions

The sum of open positions , open interest (from English open interest ) is a technical indicator , the value of which is equal to the number of current futures contracts, such as futures and options , which have not yet been calculated [1] .

For every buyer of the futures contract accounted for the seller. From the moment when the seller or buyer opens a position on the contract until the moment of settlement on it, the contract (position) is considered “open”.

Trading Strategies

The absolute value of the indicator indicates only the liquidity of the instrument in the market, but combinations of this indicator with others can provide important information about capital flow [1] .
