History
The chassis was developed before Alain Prost bought the Ligier team and renamed the Prost Grand Prix. Therefore, the index of the car was a continuation of the numbering adopted in the Ligier - JS45. Mugen Honda engines remained, the support of which allowed Japanese Shinji Nakano to take second place in the team. The very first left for Olivier Panis .
The beginning of the season was not bad: Panis , thanks to his experience, finished the podium twice. However , at the Canadian Grand Prix, the Frenchman had an accident, broke his legs and his place was taken by Jarno Trulli , who passed from Minardi .
