Biography

He graduated from the Physics and Mathematics Department of Saratov State University with a degree in mechanics (1945).

Specialist in the field of theoretical mechanics and theory of stability of motion . Pupil of Nikolai Guryevich Chetaev .

He taught at Moscow University, professor at the Department of Theoretical Mechanics and Mechatronics, Moscow State University M. V. Lomonosov . Member of specialized councils for the award of academic degrees at Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov and the Computing Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences .

Editor- in -chief of the journal " Applied Mathematics and Mechanics " (1981-2007).

Corresponding Member (1995), Full Member (2000) of the International Academy of Astronautics (France, Paris).

Foreign member of the Turin Academy of Sciences ( Italy ) in the department of mathematics, physics and natural sciences.

Honorary Member of the International Academy of Nonlinear Sciences (1996).

Foreign Member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (1997).

He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1975, 1981), the Order of the October Revolution (1981), and the Order of Honor (2002).

Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1980), RF State Prize for the cycle of work “Dynamics of a rigid body on a string and related problems” (1996), Prizes of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1950), Prizes named after S. A. Chaplygin (Academy of Sciences of the USSR, 1958), Prizes named after A. Humboldt (1997-1998). In 2004, the A. M. Lyapunov Prize of the Russian Academy of Sciences was awarded for a series of works on the modification and development of the Lyapunov function method in the theory of stability and stabilization of motion with respect to a part of variables.

He was awarded the international scientific prize "Cataldo Agostinelli and Angiola Gili Agostinelli" ( Italy , 1999).

He prepared about 50 candidates and 20 doctors of sciences.

Published over 180 scientific papers, including 6 monographs.

He died on June 12, 2007, was buried in Moscow, at the Vostryakovsky cemetery [1] .
