Elginsky

Elginsky is an abolished urban-type settlement in the Oymyakon ulus of the Republic of Yakutia of Russia. It was abolished in 2007 [1] .

Content

Geography

It was located on the left bank of the Elga River, 75 km west of Ust-Nera , 660 km northeast of Yakutsk and 12 km from the Kolyma highway.

History

It arose in the postwar years in connection with the beginning of the development of a gold deposit.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of April 29, 1958, the settlement of Tongor of the Oymyakon District was assigned to the category of working villages, with the assignment of its name to the working village of Elginsky [2] .

It was abolished in 2007.
