Geography

The village is located on an inclined plateau north of the Borgustan ridge . The administrative center of the rural settlement, the village of Krasny Kurgan , is thus located southeast of the village - south of the ridge, in the valley of the Podkumok River (the distance along the road is 11 km). In the Aksu region, one of the right tributaries of the Malaya Bugunta River originates, which, connecting to the northeast of Aksu with the Big Bugunta, forms the Bugunta River. To the northwest of the village are the sources of Malaya Bugunta, and also, in the Kamyshovka beam , the sources of one of the right tributaries of the Big Bugunta.

To the north and east of Aksu passes the administrative border of Karachay-Cherkessia with the Stavropol Territory . To the east of Aksu, the nearest settlement is the village of Borgustan Mountains , to the north, in the valley of Big Bugunta, the village of Borgustansk . The village is located in the steppe zone, small vegetation is available only along the river valleys. Earlier in the vicinity of the village (in the steppe and along river valleys) there were several sheep farms with silo pits, in the northern part of the village there was a dairy farm and a fuel depot [3] [4] .

History

The predecessor of the village of Aksu in the 1930s and early 1940s was a separate stud farm. In the same period, on the site of the current village of Borgustan Mountains, there was a suburban economy of the NKVD [5] .

In 1972, by a decree of the Presidium of the Armed Forces of the RSFSR, the village of agricultural plot No. 2 of stud farm No. 168 was renamed Aksu [6] .

In 2014, due to the emergency state of residential buildings, residents of the villages of Aksu and Kommunstroy , members of the Krasnokurgan rural settlement, were relocated to new housing (according to some reports, the number of resettled was 360 people and 115 families) [7] .
