“ Bad Romance ” ( English - “Vicious Romance”) is a song written by American singer Lady Gaga and produced by RedOne . The song was released as the lead single for The Fame Monster. The composition was written under the inspiration that the singer experienced the last few years, touring the world. A demo version of the song "leaked" on the Internet before its official premiere at "Paris Fashion Week" on October 6, 2009.

Critics praised the composition by comparing it to the song “ Poker Face ”. About the song

Lady Gaga at "The Born This Way Ball" performs "Bad Romance" in Hong Kong

“Bad Romance” was released as the first single from the second album of the singer “ The Fame Monster ” [3] . Before the official release, the demo of the song “leaked” to the Internet, after which Lady Gaga left a comment on Twitter: “The leak of the next single makes my ears bleed. Wait until you hear the real version ” [4] . A small part of the song was performed during the American television program Saturday Night Live on October 3, 2009 , together with other songs by the singer: Poker Face and LoveGame . According to About.com , song music is best suited for fashion shows and the catwalk [9] . “Slant Magazine” said that the music in the song consists of a new wave style and a number of “endless” hooks [11] . “ The Independent ” indicated that the chorus was influenced by the music of “ Boney M ”, while “ The Guardian ” wrote that it was reminiscent of the music from Depeche Mode’s fifth album, “ Black Celebration ”, 1986 issue [12] [13] . The plot of the clip is based on the fact that Gaga is abducted by a group of super-models, after which he solders it and sells the mafia. During the clip, on the displays of mafia laptops, you can see the cost of the "sale" for 1 000 000 rubles, and even a new symbol of the Russian ruble was displayed. The action takes place in a fluorescent white bathroom [58] [60] . The video begins with Gaga sitting on a white throne, wearing a golden dress and glasses made of blades. She is surrounded by various people and her dog ( Great Dane breed). She holds her finger on the iPod’s mute button (from which the synthesized excerpt from the fugue in B minor from Johann Sebastian Bach ’s First Book sounds) and when she releases the button, “Bad Romance” starts to sound. Sunlight falls on the walls of the bathroom and activates fluorescent spotlights, after which the inscription “Bath Haus of GaGa” becomes visible. After that, a group of dancers, dressed in white tights and knee-high boots, with crown-like hairstyles, begin to emerge from egg-shaped incubators. On the central incubator there is an inscription “Monster” and Gaga is selected from it, dressed as well as the dancers who begin to dance behind her. When the chorus begins to sound, two women pull Gaga out of the bathtub, tear off her clothes and force them to drink a glass of Nemiroff Lex vodka. When the second verse begins, Gaga, dressed in a corset decorated with diamonds, begins to seductively dance in front of a group of men who value her. She chooses one of the men and performs a dance on his lap. After that, the man raises his bids and offers the best price for her. When the chorus plays a third time, Gaga is already dressed in a cloak to the floor, with a polar bear collar. She goes to the man who is lying on the bed, unbuttoning his shirt. Gaga expresses indifference and throws off the cloak and sunglasses. Suddenly, after that, the bed ignites with the man lying on it. The video ends with Gaga lying next to a smoldering skeleton on an ash-covered bed. She smokes a cigarette while her pyrotechnic bra releases sparks. Today, the video has over 1 billion views on YouTube.

Video Reviews

Tim Stack from Entertainment Weekly saw the similarities between the choreography of the video and the choreography of Michael Jackson’s thriller video. He said that: “I don’t think that Gaga ever looked better than close-ups when she is more naked below the waist [...] This is an amazing video” [61] . Jennifer Cady from " E!
