Biography
During the Second World War, he was a member of the resistance movement to the Japanese invaders.
He graduated from the University of Wales and the London School of Economics.
Having entered the public service, he worked in the administration of Selangor, was an ambassador to Mali.
In 1957-1959 - Ambassador to India.
In 1959, he was appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.
In 1970-1973 - Minister for Special Assignments.
In the years 1973-1978. - Minister of Information,
at the same time in 1973-1981. - Minister of Internal Affairs.
In 1981-1984 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia. In this post, he played one of the key roles in the settlement of ASEAN countries in Cambodia.
In 1982-1984 - Deputy Chairman of the ruling party, United Malay National Organization (UMNO).
In 1982, he survived in a plane crash in which the pilot and the bodyguards of the minister were killed.
After retiring from politics, he held several positions in the corporate sector, as well as in international organizations.
