Richard Rich ( born Richard 1951, USA ) is an American director and producer of animated films , best known for directing the animated films Fox and Dog and The Black Cauldron for The Walt Disney Company . He also wrote songs for the animated films "The Small One" and "Fox and Dog." As a director, producer, and screenwriter, he worked on the animated series Animated Stories from the New Testament and Animated Stories from the Bible.

Biography

Rich began his career in the Disney Correspondence Department, but over time, moving up the ranks, he took the position of assistant director, and then director of animation, becoming the youngest director in the history of Walt Disney Studios [1] . He worked as an assistant director on cartoons such as Winnie the Pooh and Care Day, Rescuers , Pete Dragon , Winnie the Pooh 's Many Adventures , and The Small One, writing several songs for them. ”

In 1981, he shot The Fox and the Dog, along with Disney screenwriter Ted Berman and Art Stevens and then, together with Berman, directed “Black Cauldron” ( 1985 ), after which he left Disney and opened his own company - Rich Animation Studios, later known as RichCrest Animation Studios and renamed Crest Animation Productions in 2007 [2] .

Using his own studio, Rich made a series of animated films “ The Swan Princess ” with musician Lex de Azevedo who also wrote the music for Animated Stories from the New Testament, the musical film King and Me and Trumpet for the Swan. In 2006, he directed the animated film Muhammad: The Last Prophet . After releasing this picture, he sold RichCrest Animation to Lionsgate Corporation, which renamed the studio Crest Animation Productions. Rich went on to record a biblical video for Nest Family Entertainment .
