Dolgov, Oleg Vladimirovich

Oleg Vladimir Dolgov (born April 9, 1952 , Dzerzhinsk , Gorky Region ) is a Soviet and Russian scientist. Doctor of physico-mathematical sciences, professor at the of the Max Planck Society [1] , specialist in the field of superconductivity [2] . Outside the professional sphere, he is known as the player “ What? Where? When? ".

Professional career

He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) with a degree in Physics and Astrophysics . The thesis was devoted to the superconductivity of white dwarfs . In 1978, he completed graduate school at Vitaliy Ginzburg with a thesis on the superconductivity of anisotropic and inhomogeneous matter. Since 1996, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, the topic of the dissertation is “The influence of strong electron- phonon interaction on the dynamic and thermodynamic properties of superconductors” [3] .

P. N. Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (sector of the theory of superconductivity) and the in Stuttgart . He also taught at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and at the Physics Department of Tübingen University .

Research topics: superconductivity; dielectric susceptibility and magnetic permeability of solids; condensed matter reaction functions; heavy fermion systems.

"What? Where? When? ”

Oleg Dolgov first entered the television club in 1979 on the recommendation of Victor Sidnev [5] . Winner of the special prize "For Confidence in Your Knowledge" for 1980 [6] . In 1987, Dolgov, who was a member of the USSR national team (other participants - Viktor Sidnev , Sergey Pestov, Alexander Bialko , Alexander Druz , Nikita Shangin ), was awarded the prize of the international games “What? Where? When? ”In Bulgaria -“ Porcelain snail ” [7] . In 2000, he sat down at the table as part of the “80s national team” as part of the Club's Anniversary Games [8] .
