The highest point is 521 meters, located near the center of the island. The area is about 612 km².
Only small areas of land are free of ice, the largest of which is located in the southwest of the island, at Cape Dillon . There is also an astronomical point and the ruins of old buildings.
There are no lakes. There are several seasonal streams .
It is named after the Irish Arctic explorer Francis Leopold McClintock ( born Francis Leopold McClintock ).

Domes and Glaciers
Most of the island is occupied by glaciers and glacial domes , their highest point is 465 m. The largest of them is the Simoni glacier .

The island is washed by the Barents Sea .
