Nikolai Viktorovich Starikov (born August 23, 1970 , Leningrad , RSFSR , USSR ) is a Russian public and political figure , writer , blogger , and publicist . He is the author of a number of books on modern and recent history , economics , and also geopolitics , saturated, according to experts, with “absurd interpretations” [4] . Content
Biography
Consisted in the Komsomol [8] . In 1992 he graduated from the St. Petersburg Engineering and Economics Institute. Palmiro Tolyatti (diploma of an engineer-economist of the chemical industry) [1] . In 2002, he participated in the elections to the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg , but lost by gaining 230 votes (0.95% of the number of voters) [9] . At the time of the nomination, he worked as a sales manager for CJSC Europe plus St. Petersburg [10] . He is currently the commercial director of the St. Petersburg branch of Channel One [4] [11] .
He made his debut as a writer in 2006. The author of 17 books (currently - 09/21/2017). In 2011, he received the Runet Book Prize for the book “The nationalization of the ruble ...” [12] . Since 2013, collaborates with the publishing house " Peter ", which publishes a series of books "Nikolai Starikov recommends reading" [13] .

Position
Nikolai Starikov is a supporter of conservative views, opposing liberalism [14] . Supports VV Putin [15] [16] , criticizes the country's economic course. It supports integration processes in the CIS , speaking sharply against any manifestations of separatism [17] [18] . He advocates the preservation of traditional family values [19] . He believes that no one has the right to judge and detain Russian citizens outside the Russian Federation - in connection with which he acted as the leader of the public organization Trade Union of Russian Citizens at a series of pickets in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Novosibirsk and other cities in support of V. Buta , who was sentenced in the USA in 2012 to 25 years in prison for illegal arms trade and “supporting terrorism” (the organization “Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People’s Army”) [20] .
He believes that Britain is one of the main enemies of Russia. In the book "Russian unrest of the XX century" states:
“The destruction of the Russian Empire is the most successful British intelligence operation in its history”
“The main organizers of both February and October are the British ... In the fire of the First World War, Germany and Russia crushed each other. That is why the British diplomats untied her! ” [21]
It supports the point of view that JV Stalin played a significant positive role in the development of the country [22] . He believes that he was poisoned with the active participation of Western intelligence services [23] .
He opposed Russia's membership in the WTO , against the introduction of juvenile justice in Russia [19] , for the nationalization of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation .
Community Activities
He is the founder of the public organization Trade Union of Citizens of Russia . He is also the founder and leader of the " Great Fatherland Party " (Air Defense).
In the summer of 2012, he created the Internet Militia social network, which proclaimed its goal “to tell the truth, disseminate honest information, and reveal the manipulation of facts and public opinion” [24] . This social network calls on the leadership of the Russian Federation to deprive members of the Pussy Riot group of citizenship of the Russian Federation, to expel them from the country, followed by a ban on returning [25] . Also, the participants of the movement sent to Twitter Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko a lot of messages asking for a ban on gay parades [26] .
March 14, 2013 during the presentation in Kiev of the book “ Stalin . We remember together ”the numerous activists of the Liberty party began to chant“ Ganba! ”(“ Shame! ”). As a result, the presentation was disrupted, and Starikov left the room. Following him they shouted: “Go home, Starikov!” Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Freedom party Andrei Ilyenko , commenting on what happened later to journalists, said that in the capital of independent Ukraine it was unacceptable to hold “anti-Ukrainian presentations” and advertise books glorifying Stalin, the perpetrator of the death million Ukrainians [27] .
In January 2015, along with the leader of the Night Wolves motorcyclist club Alexander Zaldostanov , member of the Federation Council Dmitry Sablin , member of the Council of Veterans of Afghanistan Vyacheslav Shabanov, world champion in fights without rules Julia Berezikova , deputy chairman of United Russia in the State Duma, Franz Klintsevich and actor Mikhail Porechenkov initiated the creation of the Anti-Maidan movement, the goal of which is the fight [28] against the “fifth column” and the prevention of the collapse of the state. Along the way, members of the movement will gather in opposition rallies [29] .
October 17, 2015 held his first public appearance in Germany , which was held as part of a political conference in the city of Bad Soden-Allendorf ( Hesse ) [30] .
On October 16, 2018, in his video message, he announced the resignation and termination of membership in the “Great Fatherland Party” [31] . He confirmed that he remained true to his ideas and continued his activities in the framework of the All-Russian public movement “Patriots of the Great Fatherland”. Since 2017, he has been one of the founders of the Great Fatherland Charity Fund, which provides assistance to residents of the DPR and LPR who suffered in the war [32] .

Criticism
In 2009, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the State University of Management E. V. Balatsky published a review of Starikov’s book “Crisis. How it's done?". In it, the scientist criticized the author’s methodological approach, which, according to him, comes from his own statement about the man-made crisis , ignoring existing versions. In addition, the sources on which he relied when working on his book were criticized. The reviewer called them marginal. The review also notes the author’s misunderstanding or mystification of historical facts related to the creation of the Fed , the Great Depression and the abolition of the gold standard . In the final, the reviewer concludes that in the book under discussion there is a "primification of real processes, designed for a semi-literate population" [4] .
Japanese scientist, candidate of historical sciences Yuri Georgiev notes that in Starikov’s “problem” book “Who killed the Russian empire? The main secret of the XX century "version of the financing of the Paris and Geneva conferences by the Japanese colonel does not have any documentary evidence [33] .
The newspaper Kommersant nominated Starikov for the dubious contest “Lickness to the body-2010” because of his statements about Vladimir Putin [34] .
Researchers [4] [35] , journalists [36] [37] and political opponents [38] often [39] point to the conspiracy nature of the writer's views. Starikov himself denies such allegations [36] [39] .
Publicist Valery Khachaturov [ significance of fact? ] in a review of Starikov’s work “Who Finished Russia?” Myths and truth about the Civil War ”convicted the author of incompetence and ignoring obvious historical facts [1] .
The books of Starikov (in particular, “Stalin” and “Who Finished Russia?”) Became the subject of a large critical article by R. Vodchenko “Tradesman in Writing”, published under the tags “Falsification of History” and “Pseudoscience” [40] .
The military historian K. A. Zhukov, in a critical article entitled “The Old Man's History,” describes the methods of historical research by Starikov as an example of the 1905 revolution and the Russo-Japanese War, and comes to the conclusion that the writer does not present these two events as a historical work at all - this is biased, extremely tendentious a product designed to confuse a reader who is not knowledgeable in the subject [41] .
In 2015–2016, the researcher P. G. Balaev published in two parts (Anti-Starikov, Anti-Starikov-2) a book criticizing his views, as well as the views of other famous publicists and politicians [ significance of fact? ] .
In 2016, Stephen Kryze in the book “Crisis. How it's done. The geopolitical “theory of Starikov” [42], based on a large number of materials from American sources, refutes the main points of Starikov’s book “Crisis: How to Do It,” points out inaccuracies in citing or referring to a publicist’s book and even attributing quotes.
