Biography
Lidia Stepanova was born in Moscow (according to other sources - in Orenburg and Ryazan ) on January 10 (22), 1899 . She graduated from high school and the Higher Women's Courses named after P.F. Lesgaft in St. Petersburg (1917). Since 1918, she worked in the office of Tsentrozakupok, then the secretary of the board at the Glavprodkom. She worked in various institutions. Since 1925 - editor, then director of Moscow film factories " Sovkino ", " Soyuzkino ", "Soyuzkinochronicles" - TSSDF . Since 1952, she was fired from the studio with a ban on working in the cinema. Since 1953, at the Mosnauchfilm studio (later Tsentrnauchfilm ).
The works of L.I. Stepanova reflected the most important stages in the formation of the Soviet state . In 1933–1936 and 1940–1944 , she edited several issues of Soyuzkinozurnal, in 1935, two special issues entitled “Events in Spain,” in 1940–1941 and 1943, four issues of the Soviet Art magazine, in 1949-1952 years - several issues of the newsreel “News of the day”. Prepared (together with M. E. Slavinskaya ) for the release in the Soviet rental film A. Litvak "Russians are coming" (1943).
L.I. Stepanova died on November 13, 1962 . She was buried at the Don cemetery .
