History

On February 5, 1921, by order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic, short-term 81st infantry courses of command personnel were organized in Minsk [1] . They were located in the building of the former Minsk Theological Seminary [2] .

In the same year, the educational institution was twice renamed: first, to the courses of the Council of People's Commissars of the BSSR, and then, passing to the army department ( People’s Commissariat of Defense ) - Minsk infantry courses of the Red Army .

On October 9, 1924, the 7th Joint Military School named after the Central Executive Committee of the BSSR with a three-year training period was organized on the basis of these courses [1] .

The name β€œUnited” reflected the specifics of training: personnel commanders for the arms of the Red Army: cavalry , artillery , infantry , were trained at three departments. The list of military disciplines included: topography , the history of the Civil War , military art , tactics , fire training , and engineering . The tactics of infantry and cavalry ( cadets comprehended horse riding and riding techniques) were studied in them, taking into account the use of artillery fire. Almost a third of the study time was devoted to general subjects. During the study, the cadets underwent an internship: in the second year β€” in the position of division commander, in the third β€” platoon commander [1] .

The military school was one battalion of three or four companies. The primary task of the secondary school named after the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of the BSSR was the training of commanders for the 2nd Belorussian Rifle Division of the Western Military District (from October 1926 - the Belarusian Military District ) [1] .

In February 1931, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the People's Commissar for Military and Naval Affairs, Chairman of the Revolutionary Military Council of the USSR K.E. Voroshilov, cadets of the school made a ski run Minsk - Moscow . From February 6 to February 21, 1931, ten cadets, having made an 800-kilometer throw, delivered a report on achievements and shortcomings of the General School of Arts to K. Ye. Voroshilov and personally congratulated the People's Commissar in Moscow [1] [sn 1] .

In February 1931, the tenth anniversary of the United Belarusian Military School was also celebrated. OBVSh was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor . The decree signed by the chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the BSSR A. G. Chervyakov said: [1] "Noting the outstanding merits of the Belarusian Belorussian Military School named after the Central Executive Committee of the Belorussian SSR in the training of red commanders, the Presidium of the Central Executive Committee decides: To reward the United Belarusian military school with the Order of the Red Banner of Labor." The head of the school, I. I. Vasilevich and his assistants, received weapons from the hands of the CEC Secretary A. I. Khatskevich [1] .

According to the memoirs of Marshal of the Soviet Union I.I. Yakubovsky , on September 8, 1933 M.I. Kalinin came to school. At the rally, cadets suggested that the school be named after him. And on November 6, 1933, by order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the USSR No. 174, the school was named after Comrade M. I. Kalinin .

March 16, 1937 it was transformed into the Minsk Military Infantry School named after M. I. Kalinin [1] .

March 28, 1941 by order of the NPO of the USSR No. 0127 was reorganized into the Minsk Red Banner Tank School named after M. I. Kalinin ,

July 3, 1941, on the basis of the directive of the General Staff of the spacecraft No. 638 / org, relocated to the city of Ulyanovsk and renamed the 2nd Ulyanovsk Red Banner Tank School named after M. I. Kalinin . It was disbanded in 1947.

After the Great Patriotic War, on May 21, 1952, the Suvorov Military School was opened in the city of Minsk , which is located in the building of the former school [2] [sn 2] .
