History

According to legend, on the site of the monastery even before the invasion of the Tatar-Mongols, there was a male monastery with a very strict charter. In 1860, the Holy Trinity Kamennobrod Women's Community was founded in Kamenny Brod. In 1865, at the expense of the People’s Counselor Seraphim of Persia, a church was built in honor of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God, " All Who Mourn Joy ." After 1928 it was closed, was in an abandoned state. In 1992, the monastery was rebuilt as the Kamennobrodsky Holy Trinity Monastery. On August 27, 1996, hieromonk Elisha (Fomkin) was appointed governor of the monastery.

Attractions

Holy springs

On the lands of the monastery there are many holy springs with different tastes of water (a total of 5 sources were found), including radon , silver and hydrogen sulfide .

Monastery caves

Near the monastery is the Holy Mountain, in which there are monastery caves. There is no free entrance to the caves, the tour is conducted by a representative of the monastery, and only in a small part of the underground passages. But there remains a lot of unsolved riddles that excite the imagination. According to legends, legends and memoirs of old-timers: three- or four-story dungeons stretch for tens of kilometers, including under the monastery itself, through underground streams and mountains. In addition to the cells of the monks, the underground chapel also has a large round hall with a round table made from chalk in the middle, chairs, bowls for butter and holy water. In the caves in Soviet times, atheism hid monks. Labyrinths were built in such a way that they could be easily shut. According to the stories of local residents, even a boat was found in the caves. Now there are periodic failures and subsidence of soil, including on the territory of the monastery. Today, research and clearing of the second tier are carried out by spelestologists and the monks themselves. For tourists, for the time being, only the upper first tier is accessible for inspection, as well as a fenced mysterious passage down, on which the tour ends.
