Biography
Alexander Michon was born in Kharkov. The information about the family is contradictory: according to one source, his father was a runaway serf, Mikhail Michon, who bought other people's documents and lived under the name of a nobleman, I. I. Berezovsky. 7 years after the abolition of serfdom, "Berezovsky" appealed to the king with a penitential petition, and the family was able to return the real name. According to other information, A. Michon was the son of the last of the kind of Polish gentry Tomasz-Berezovsky and Frenchwoman Violetta Michon [1] . In any case, A.Mishon's father was one of the pioneers of photography in the south of Russia; Already in 1870, the photography studio of Mr. Mishon operated in Slavyansk .
Alexander Mishon inherited his profession from his father and began his career as a photographer, founding a photography studio in his hometown in 1883 , located at the corner of Moskovskaya Street and Slesarny Lane [2] In 1884, he moved to Baku , where he waited for permission to open his photographic business. real school. On June 28, 1887, the Baku Governor issued a permit to open a photo workshop, which was located on Torgovaya Street, in March of the following year the workshop was moved to the Imperial Hotel.
Mishon initiated the creation of the Baku Circle of Photo Lovers, the purpose of which was "the study of photo art and its application to illustrate our rich natural, scientific, archaeological and ethnographic material . " Members of the circle, according to the statute, could be persons of both sexes, with the exception of students in secondary and lower educational institutions, juvenile junkers who are in active service, and persons subject to the restriction of court rights.
Alexander Mikhailovich was the author, photographer, editor and publisher of the first issue of the yearbook of the city of Baku, published in 1893 . At the end of the same year, he was given permission to open a reading room at a publishing house located on Torgovaya Street.
In 1898, Alexander Mishon filmed several documentary scenes on local themes, such as “ Fire at Bibi-Eybat ”, “ Oil Fountain at the Balakhani Fishery ”, “People’s Party in the City Garden”, “Caucasian Dance” and one playful comedy film drawing, which was called "Caught." Viewers of these films were shown on a specially organized screening on August 2 of the same year. According to the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (December 12, 2000), this day is considered the birthday of the national cinematography and is annually celebrated as the “Day of National Cinema” [3] .
In 1908 he moved to the city of Slavyansk , where he worked in photo-design, which previously belonged to his mother, Vera Ivanovna Mishon [4] [1] . Three years later, he was granted the right to publish the newspaper “Severo-Donetsk Region”, the publication of which stopped already in July 1912 . In 1913, he opened photography and zincography in Kharkov.
In 1918, under unknown circumstances, Michon appeared in Voronezh as chairman of the Revolutionary Tribunal [1] .
In 1921, the newspaper “Voronezh Commune” published the note “Death of Comrade Mishon”, in which it was reported that the former Chairman of the Revolutionary Tribunal, a member of the CPSU (b) Alexander Mikhailovich Mishon died on July 5, 1921 in the village of Kozelka (near Samara ) Voznesensky parish of Buzuluksky district .
On the medals reproduced on the back of the photos, it follows that he was a member of the Paris National Academy of Photographers, received awards at a photographic exhibition in 1891 in St. Petersburg , and was awarded the medal of the Imperial Russian Technical Society. In 1883 he was awarded the Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolayevich , and in 1890 - by His Highness the Prince of Neapolitan. On May 18, 2013, a memorial plaque was erected in Kharkov in the house where A.
