Geographical location

Vetluzhsky district is located in the northern part of the Nizhny Novgorod region, it borders with the Varnavinsky , Urensky , Shakhunsky districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region, as well as with the Kostroma region .

Resources

The total forest area of ​​the Vetluzhsky district is 225 thousand hectares, the forest cover of the district is 72%. The total timber stock is 35 million m³, of which ripe and mature 6 million m³, including 2 million m³ of coniferous species.

Among the mineral deposits in the region there are reserves of clay and peat , underground lakes of medicinal-table water. The clay deposit for brick production is located on an area of ​​31,000 m² with a useful thickness of 96,000 m³. Peat reserves in the region exceed 22 million tons.

There are 5 mineralized groundwater sources in the area. At the base of well No. 2 in Vetlug, the Vetluzhskaya mineral water is bottled, having the chemical composition: sulfates , calcium , bicarbonates , chlorides , potassium ; mineralization - 2.8-5.2 g / dm³.

Transport
