Biography

Born in a female colony, brought up there until 5 years, then was transferred to a boarding school. At the age of 16 he committed the first crime: together with a friend he climbed into a store, stole food and money there. Gridyagin was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Freed, married, had children, got a job as a freight forwarder. The first criminal episode ended in failure. The girl who was attacked by Gridyagin was of large build and offered serious resistance. After that, he began to attack only women of short stature, fragile build. He committed all the crimes according to the same scheme: he hid, waiting for the victim, followed the woman, overtook her, put on a white gauze mask, pulled out a knife and turned back demanding to give money. Taking advantage of the shock of the victim, he searched her, took money, jewelry and committed rape. One of his victims, a sophomore student at the pedagogical institute, Gridyagin strangled when passersby appeared nearby so that they would not hear her screams.

Gridyagin was detained at the railway station in 1983 due to strange behavior and the presence of binoculars (which, as it turned out later, he bought with stolen money), which seemed suspicious to the district police officer of the line. Already in the station, they noticed the similarity of the detainee with the orientation and the painted portrait of a wanted serial rapist. At first, Gridyagin denied any involvement in the crimes. But during a search of his house, they found jewelry removed from the victims, a knife and a mask.

The regional court of first instance initially sentenced Gridyagin to 15 years in prison. However, mass appeals to the Supreme Court followed from the public. The prosecutor's office also sent a protest to the Supreme Court. As a result, the sentence was canceled, the case was sent for additional investigation. The new sentence was already different: the murderer and the serial rapist were sentenced to an exceptional measure of punishment - the death penalty through firing squad. All appeals for clemency were rejected. The sentence was carried out.
