Biography

Born in Hamilton (Ontario) in the family of lawyer Peter Crierra and Marion Stinson.

Prior to serving in the armed forces, he worked as an engineer on the Ontario Hydroelectric Commission, where he founded the research department in 1912.

He graduated from Upper Canada College and Highfield School in Hamilton in 1906, then entered the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston , graduating in 1910.

During the First World War he rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel of artillery . Unlike many officers, he remained in the army after the war. [one]
