Zhang Haipeng ( Chinese 張海鵬 , 1868 - 1949 ) is a Chinese general who went over to the side of Japan and Manzhou-go .

Biography

In early October 1931 , after the Manchu incident , in Taonan ( Liaoning Province), General Zhang Haipeng, who commanded the 2nd Provincial Defense Brigade, took command of the Manchu Imperial Army , declaring the area independent of China in exchange for supplying large quantities of Japanese military equipment army. The general began military operations against the army of Ma Zhanshan , appointed governor of Heilongjiang . Zhang Haipeng invited him to surrender. On the recommendation of Shigeru Honjo , Zhang cautiously advanced forward detachments. The vanguard was attacked by the forces of Ma Zhanshan. The Chinese army was defeated and retreated. After the establishment of the Manzhou-go state in March 1932, Zhang Haipeng renamed his troops into the Taoliao Army (that is, the Tao Nan- Liao Nin Army), which was replenished by Manchu volunteers. In 1933, the Jaehe Defense Army was formed. He resigned in 1941. After the defeat of Japan in World War II, he tried to escape, but was arrested and executed for treason.
