Black Cat ( Italian: Il gatto nero ) - 1989 Italian horror film directed by Luigi Cozzi. In the words of the director of the picture, the name does not reflect the essence of the film. He was forced to use it because the American distributors had already bought a package for a series of works by Edgar Allan Poe called "The Black Cat", and the director had to accept their conditions in order to make this film [1] . The film has nothing to do with the story of a famous writer.

The Three Mothers Movie and Trilogy
The picture caused a breakdown in the long friendship between the director of the film Luigi Cozzi and Dario Argento , as this painting to some extent continued the storyline of Argento's films “ Suspiria ” and “ Inferno ”, which are part of the conceptual story of Three Mothers [2] . The director himself denies at least any resemblance of the picture to the movie “ Suspiria ” (the film in question is sometimes called “Suspiria”), noting only the presence in his film of a single scene where the actor quotes Suspiria. However, this is only a tribute to Dario Argento [1] .
Criticism
Speaking of the film, Luigi Cozzi mentions the existence of a science fiction story with a strong paranormal component, which, in his opinion, is close to the history of the movie “ Carrie ” [1] . At the same time, in order to somehow justify the existing name of the picture, Kotstsi specially used in some shots without any logic of a black kitten.
Exit Painting
The film lay on a shelf for a long time, until in the late 1990s it was released on video media in England and on cable channels in the United States. This is explained by the fact that between 1989 and 1990, cinematic laws changed in Italy and, according to one of such laws, a film could be released on television only if it had a sale guaranteed by television [1] .
