NGC 6558 (other designations - GCL 89 , ESO 456-SC62 ) is a globular cluster located at a distance of about 24,000 light-years from Earth in the constellation Sagittarius . The cluster was discovered in 1784 by astronomer William Herschel using an 18.7-inch telescope.
