Biography
He started playing football from an early age - three years. He played football for a long time in his hometown and made his debut for the professional club Hurricane Buseo from Montevideo at only 21 years old, although back in 1992 Boca Juniors became interested in 16-year-old Cardoso, but the signing of the contract failed at the last moment.
In 1997, Cardoso played for Colon from Montevideo. Then Cardoso had a daughter with down syndrome (from a second marriage; from her first marriage there are three healthy daughters) and the Colon coach Jorge Jimenez provided great support to the player and his family.
Since 1998, Cardoso has been playing for the team of his hometown Lavalleja, and when in 1999 he was formed by the merger of all the semi-professional and amateur clubs of the department, a single professional FC Rocha, Cardoso automatically became a player of this team. Quite quickly, this club climbed the hierarchical ladder in the country's football, and all the successes of “sky blue” were inextricably linked with the name Cardoso, whose skill level seemed to grow with the rise of the club itself. In 2003, the team made it to the Uruguayan Championship Superior Division. It was Cardoso who scored the first goal in the history of Rocha in the elite division.
But the finest hour of “Rocha” and Cardoso came in 2005. The provincial club managed to win the Aperture (first stage) of the national championship of the 2005/06 season, which automatically made the team at least the vice-champion of Uruguay, since the winners of Apertura and Klausura should fight for the title. As a result, Rocha lost to Nacional , but this was already in 2006, and according to the results of the whole calendar 2005, the leader of Rocha Cardoso was recognized as the best player in the Uruguayan championship. Also in the 2005/2006 season, the footballer won the title of top scorer in the Uruguayan championship. At the same time, at the end of 2004 Cardoso was thinking about leaving for the UAE for “easy money”, and as a result, the 19th issue of Rocha and the team itself had the best season in history.
In 2006, Rocha made its debut in the Libertadores Cup . Cardoso in 6 matches of the group tournament scored 3 goals, becoming the top scorer in the history of the club in the international arena. In total, in the championships of Uruguay in the High Division for “Rocha” Cardozo scored 56 goals, which is also a club record.
Cardozo’s game attracted the attention of the legendary Uruguayan club Peñarol, and the footballer could not resist such an offer. Aperture 2006 Cardozo spent in a black and yellow T-shirt. Returning to Rocha in Klausur did not help save the club from relegation from the elite. Cardoso began the second half of 2007 as part of the River Plate of Montevideo.
