Biography

Born on January 12, 1919 in the village of Kochuro-Vyselki [1] in a peasant family. Russian He graduated from elementary school.

In the army since 1939. On the fronts of World War II from June 1941. He finished the war as a driver-mechanic of the 66th Guards Tank Brigade. January 21, 1945 in the battles for the city of Inowroclaw (Poland), acting as part of a tank platoon, one of the first to penetrate the enemy’s location. Skillfully maneuvering, crushed 8 guns and 5 machine gun nests, along with calculations. His tank was set on fire, the entire crew, except for him, was disabled, but I. S. Zotov managed to save the car and put out the fire.

For courage and heroism shown in the battles and guards, Senior Sergeant Zotov Ivan Semenovich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on February 27, 1945 with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 5728).

After the war he continued to serve in the army. Demobilized in 1948.

He lived in Moscow. He died on August 16, 1982. He was buried in Moscow, at the Khimki cemetery .
