Biography and career
Peter was born into a sports family - his uncles Silvinho and Manny - also played high level billiards. In 1983, Peter became the three-time champion of South Africa in snooker among fans, and in the same year for the first time became the champion of the country in English billiards . This was the beginning of a professional career, snooker in particular - Peter got on the main tour in 1984. In 1987, he became a Grand Prix semi - finalist, losing to Dennis Taylor for reaching the final. In the 1988/89 season, Francisco rose to his best position in the world ranking - he became 14th. In the same season, he first took part in the final stage of the World Cup , but lost in 1/16 to Dean Reynolds with a score of 7:10. Later, Peter was three times in the 1/16 finals of the championship, but he could not go further.
In 1995, in 1/16 of the same world championship, Peter Francisco lost to Jimmy White 2:10. After some time, the WPBSA launched an investigation into the South African's handover of the match - the fact is that before the start of the game, an unprecedented number of bookmakers' bets were precisely at the expense of 10: 2 in favor of White. In the end, Peter was found guilty and fined a decent amount; he was also disqualified for 5 years. Francisco never returned to professional snooker, but now he continues to play English billiards at a fairly high level, and plays snooker as an amateur. In particular, he represented the South African national team at the amateur world championships in 2007 and 2008.
