Features
The capital letters of the Gill Sans headset (as well as the and headsets) reproduce the Roman capital , such as is used in the design of the column of Trajan . The capital M of Gill Sans has such proportions that it can be entered into a square, with the middle line going through the center of this square.

History
Gill Sans was designed to sign the Douglas Cleverdon store sign. To complement this sign, Gill created a smaller alphabet to help Cleverdon - to compile announcements and announcements [2] .
The Gill Sans headset gained fame immediately in 1928, as it was chosen to design the corporate identity of the London and Northeast Railway (LNER). Almost all company inscriptions were typed in capital letters, Gill Sans were issued information signs, schedules, menus in the restaurant and print ads.
Following the nationalization of British Rail, its schedules were also printed in Gill Sans.

In Russia
The headset is used on the Moscow television channel U (from 2013 to the present), on the television channel TNT4 , RTR (1998-2001), and NTV (from 1994 to the present). Also, the font was used to create the logo of the magazine “ Driving ” . It is also used in television programs “ Looking for You! / Wait for me ” (ORT / Channel One, 2000s), “Tonight with Andrei Malakhov” (Channel One, 2012-2017), “Golden Key Lottery” (RTR / Russia, 1999 -2003), “ Domino Principle ” (NTV, 2002-2005), “City News” (M1 / Domashny, ~ 2005), “Channel One Weather Forecast” (Channel One, 2001-2004), as well as on the television series “Samara "(Russia-1, 2012). And also on advertisements “The ABC of Taste ” (since 1997), “ Miratorg ” (since 1995) and the magazine “ Caravan of stories ”. Since 2014 - the signature font of the Erarta Museum of Modern Art.
"There are several Cyrillic versions of Gill Sans, including those developed by Monotype designers, but so far none of them are inadequate in quality to the Latin prototype." (V. Efimov, 2006). In 2013, Paratype released its version of the font called Humanist 521.
In Azerbaijan
The headset is used in the currency “ Azerbaijan Manat ” (since 2006).
Else
In the UK
The headset is now widely used by various companies to add sophistication and professionalism to their corporate identity. Among them is the BBC Corporation, which selected Gill Sans for its design in 1997. Used by Saab , as well as in Kit Kat ads.
In France
The headset is used in the Peugeot car brand.
In Sweden
The headset is used in the cosmetic brand Oriflame .
In the USA
The headset is used by the Wikimedia Foundation in the logos of several projects.
