Description

In general, they are large, long-stemmed , reaching a length of 11-16 mm, and from yellow to pale brown color. Antennae pancake, thin and 16-segment. The body, legs and wings are very long.

Ecology and habitats

The larvae of these mosquitoes are phytophagous, with the exception of members of the genus Cylindrotoma , and live on terrestrial, semi-aquatic or water mosses. Cylindrotoma members inhabit a variety of flowering plants. Adults live in wet forest areas.
