After the devastating flood of 2002, when the spilled Bugunta flooded the central part of the Essentuki , it was decided to enclose the river in a concrete tray . Construction has been underway since 2006, with an estimated completion date of 2013. But at the end of 2014, the tray was never done. It is necessary to build a water-conducting reinforced concrete tray from the bypass road and until the river flows into Podkumok. The length is almost five kilometers, the width is 12.5 meters, the depth is 2.6 meters. In parallel with its shores, it is planned to lay nine-odd kilometers of a drainage collector and a storm inlet cell. A pedestrian walkway is provided on one side of the tray, and a road on the other. The shores of the Bugunta reinforced concrete channel will be connected by eight automobile and 13 pedestrian bridges. The total cost of the work is about 1.5 billion rubles.
Historical Information
In 1825, at the Highest command, on the Bugunta river , 3.5 km northeast of the former Essentuki post, the Essentuki stanitsa was founded, at the same time "with the Kislovodsk, Borgustan, Goryachevodsk stanitsa - for a solid border and fencing of the Caucasian inhabitants", - as stated in the order of General Ermolov of March 14.
Here is how this event is described in the book of I. Popko “Terek Cossacks from ancient times. Grebensky army ”(St. Petersburg; 1880):“ ... 385 families were removed from the Alexander village in 1825, and from this number 100 families settled on Podkumka, near the Kislovodskaya fortress, where the village of Kislovodskaya was formed, 50 families laid the foundation for st. Borgustan, ... and 235 families founded on the river. Bugunte village of Essentuki. "
The center of the village of Essentuki was located one and a half kilometers from the mouth of the river. Bugunta on its right bank, where the old stanitsa Nicholas Church of the city of Essentuki is now located.
