Wilhelm Drumann suggested [3] that it was Mark Claudius Marcellus (and not Mark Claudius Glitzia , as is commonly believed) in 236 BC. e. Being a legate under the consul Gaius of Licinia Vare , he was punished for unauthorized conclusion of an agreement with corsi [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] . The legate was sent to Corsica , from where he returned unscathed, after which, according to various sources, he was imprisoned, expelled or executed.
