Biography
Born in the village of Sloboda now in the Belevsky district of the Tula region in a peasant family. Russian. Education is incomplete secondary. He worked on the collective farm as a foreman, a joiner.
In the Red Army since 1935. Member of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940 .
With the beginning of World War II at the front. In 1942 he graduated from junior lieutenant courses. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1942.
On April 13, 1945, in battles to defeat the enemy’s Zemland group in East Prussia, the commander of the battalion of the 171st Infantry Regiment ( 182th Infantry Division , 2nd Guards Army , 3rd Belorussian Front ) captain Vasily Azarov, being wounded during the assault on a strong point continued to manage units. The combat mission was completed.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated June 29, 1945 “for exemplary execution of the combat missions of command on the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown at the same time”, Captain Azarov Vasily Nikolayevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the medal “ The Golden Star ” (No. 8012).
After the war, demobilized from the Armed Forces of the USSR. He lived and worked in the city of Belev . He died on October 7, 1972.
