Formation History
Historically, the modern Uyghur ethnic group evolved in the difficult geographical conditions of the Takla-Makan desert ( Uygh . “An abandoned, abandoned place ”), where human habitation was possible only in rare and distant oases , often becoming separate cities - states , with their own traditions of statehood , religion, and ethnicity.

Language Differences
In modern Uigur language there are three dialects and a dozen dialects , Khotanians speak the Khotan or Southern dialect in separate dialects, and Lobnors speak the Lobnor or Eastern dialect . Also, some linguists sometimes distinguish the dialect abdal (Uygh. Abdallar) in a separate dialect. All other sub-ethnic groups of Uyghurs speak different dialects of the northwestern or central dialect, Kashgars in Kashgar, Turfans in Turf, Kuldzhins in Ili, Atush in Atush, the central dialect formed the basis of the modern Uigur literary language.

External Anthropological Differences
Southern subethnoses (Kashgars, Khotanians, Atusha, Yarkendians) are mostly of the Caucasian race of the Pamir-Fergana type , Lobnors, Turfs and Kumul people of Mongoloid and mixed type , Kuldzhins, Aksuites and Kuchar people of mixed type .
The anthropological differences of the Uyghur subethnos are explained by the fact that historically the northern regions more often contacted with the Mongoloid peoples, in contrast to the southern ones. Of the southern Uyghurs, pronounced Mongoloidity is inherent in the small subethnos of the Pulurians, which is associated with the Tibetan origin of this group of Uyghurs, as well as the Dolans and Katagans living south of Kashgar and originating from Mongol tribes .
