History
At the beginning of the F1-2000 season, which represents the evolutionary development of last year’s F399 chassis, was clearly inferior to the newest McLaren MP4 / 15 car in speed, but it was much safer: Michael Schumacher won the first two races, while McLaren riders didn’t score one point. But the third race of the season Schumacher won again. Ferrari's advantage over McLaren seemed overwhelming.
However, a series of meetings, which struck the leader of the Ferrari in the middle of the season, combined with hard work in the camp of competitors - McLaren - suddenly turned the whole course of the championship. At the Hungaroring Mika Hakkinen won a convincing victory, allowing the McLaren team to take the lead in personal, there and in the team standings. In Belgium, the Finn won the second time in a row in an incredible style, making a serious bid for the third title in a row.
To turn the tide, the Ferrari team had to make a titanic effort. And she succeeded: in the remaining four stages, Michael Schumacher won both qualifications and races. This allowed him to win the champion title ahead of time , for the first time for Ferrari since 1979 and bring the final advantage over Hakkinen to 19 points.
