“The Road” ( Spanish: Camino ) is a 2008 film directed by Javier Fesser . The plot of the film is based on the real life story of a girl, Alexia Gonzalez-Barros , who died at the age of 14, after ten months of illness. She was raised mainly according to the laws of Opus Dei . In the last months of her life, the girl encountered her first love. The film took part in the San Sebastian Film Festival , but did not receive any awards.

Story
An eleven-year-old girl named Kamino is seriously ill and she is trying to cope with her illness and at the same time she is learning to be friends with other children and will know her first love. Her mother is an ardent Catholic , a strong-willed woman who tries to make decisions not only for herself, but also for all her loved ones.

Shooting
Part of the film's scenes were filmed at the Carmen Hospital in Ciudad Real [2] , the rest in Madrid and Pamplona .
