History
For the first time, an expeditionary army to be sent to Shanghai was formed on February 25, 1932 as reinforcements for the troops involved in the first battle for Shanghai . It was disbanded in June 1932 at the conclusion of the incident.
The expeditionary army was organized for the second time on August 15, 1937, as military operations escalated between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan . The forces of the expeditionary army won the battle for Shanghai , after which they advanced deep into the mainland, taking part in the Battle of Nanjing and the “ Nanking massacre ” that followed.
The expeditionary army was disbanded on February 1, 1938, its troops became part of the Central China Front .
