Auzins, Marcis

Marcis Petrovich Auzins ( Latvian: Mārcis Auziņš ; January 11, 1956 , Riga , Latvian SSR , USSR ) - professor , doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, academician of the Latvian Academy of Sciences , rector of the University of Latvia from 2007 to 2015. In 2010, he received the Grand Medal of the Latvian Academy of Sciences.

Biography

Marcis Auzins was born in 1956, graduated from the Physics and Mathematics University , studied at Peking University and the Canadian University of Western Ontario . In 1992, Auzins Marcis became an assistant professor at the University of Latvia, and in 1997 became a professor. Since 1998, is a full member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences. In 2007 he became rector of the University of Latvia , in 2011 he was re-elected for a second four-year term. In 2015, he became the head of the Department of Experimental Physics, Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, University of Latvia.
