Socket 479

Socket 479 or mPGA479M - a family of sockets of various mobile processors from Intel ; VIA was also used for the C7 processor. Although Socket 479 has 479 contacts, the processors for this socket use only 478 of them (not to be confused with Socket 478 ).

There were three electrically incompatible but physically identical versions of this connector:

  • for Pentium III-M (2001);
  • for Pentium M and Celeron M 3xx (2003) - the most common version of Socket 479;
  • compatible version [ how? ] with Socket M , for Intel Core Solo , Core Duo , Core 2 Duo, and Celeron M 4xx / 5xx processors.

In addition, due to the presence of the 479th hole, processors designed for Socket 478 and Socket P can be physically inserted into Socket 479 physically incompatible with all versions of this socket.

There are special adapters that allow you to use Pentium M for Socket 479 in motherboards with Socket 478, for example, Asus CT-479.
