The plot of the novel focuses on her attempts to find love and happiness within the limits and decencies of her society, in particular, concerning the development of relations with the seemingly proud and cold Mr. Darcy . Elizabeth Bennett, as a rule, is considered one of the most popular and sweetest heroines of Austin, and one of the most popular female images in British literature .
Elizabeth is the second of five sisters. She and her family live on Longbourne Estate, not far from the town of Meriton, County Hertfordshire .
At the beginning of the novel, Elizabeth is 21 years old. She is described as an attractive and well-mannered girl, distinguished by observation. Lizzy plays the piano a little. Eliza's best friend is Charlotte Lucas. Relations between the girls got a little worse when Charlotte married her cousin and former fan of Elizabeth, the silly and awkward Mr. Collins, but after a while Charlotte and Lizzie became close friends again.
