Metafile

Metafile is a general term for a file format that can additionally store in itself data (additional information) about data stored in them (files) - information that is hidden from the user in the normal mode of viewing content.

  • In text files, this, for example, data on the time of creation and modification of the file, the number of edits;
  • In graphic files - additional non-graphic information about the creation date, the tools used and their data, also a watermark ;
  • In audio files - information about the artist, recording date, bit rate , genre, etc.
