Biography

Born in the city of Mariinsky Posad, Kazan province, where his parents moved from St. Petersburg in 1906. He studied the art of woodworking with his father, the famous carver Konstantinov, Nikolai Alexandrovich (1877-until 1968), who worked in the so-called. "Russian style." In 1931 he graduated from the Mariinsko-Posadsky wood technical school, began to engage in creativity, including with his father. In the years 1933-35. served in the Red Army in the Far East. Since 1935, he taught special disciplines at the Mariinsky Posad Forestry College.

He was fond of hunting, visited the neighboring Chuvash villages, became interested in embroidered folk ornaments and collect collections of items of traditional costume. During the years of World War II, he was a civil engineer in Karelia and the Far East, graduated from service in 1946, with the rank of captain.

Died March 15, 1979 in the city of Mariinsky Posad.

Creativity

He presented his work for the first time - a bog oak shelf - at an art exhibition dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the October Revolution (opened on November 6, 1937 in the Rodina cinema, Cheboksary ). In 1938-1940 compiled the "Album of ornaments of the Chuvash embroideries", consisting of 30 sheets of 25x37 cm with accurate watercolor sketches of the patterns of the Middle Chuvash Chuvash (now stored in the Scientific Library of the Chuvash State Art Museum ).
