2012—2015
In 2012, at the Australian Open, Feliciano reached the fourth round. In April, on a clay tournament in Houston, he made it to the semifinals. At the end of the same month, he was able to reach the quarterfinals in Barcelona, and at the next tournament in Munich before the semi-finals. At the French Open and the Wimbledon tournament, Lopez was out in the first round. In July, he gets to the quarterfinals of the tournament in Gstaad. Together with David Ferrer, he stops a step away from the medals, finishing in 4th place. At the US Open, he retires to the stage of the third round. In early October, at the tournament in Beijing, he reached the third semi-final of the season (losing there, as at the Olympics, Tsonga), after which he won only three matches in the four remaining tournaments.
In mid-February 2013, Lopez, who ranked at the end of the Top-50 ranking, beat Memphis in the second round of the US championship at the 18th World No. 18 Tommy Haas and reached the final for the first time in almost two years. On the Eastbourne grass courts in June, he defeated Juan Monaco ’s 20th World No. and Gilles Simon ’s 17th World No. on his way to his third career (and first in more than three years) title in singles. In Gstaad, Lopez defeated the court host, Stanislas Wawrinka , the tenth racket of the world, and Cincinnati, the 12th racket of the world, Kay Nishikori , who had lost in the Memphis finals before in Cincinnati. Until the end of October, he continued to rise in the ranking, reaching the 24th place, and eventually ended the year at the 28th position.
The first success in 2014 came to Lopez in doubles, when he and Robin Hase from the Netherlands reached the final of the Italian Open, beating along the way one of the strongest couples in the world, Ivan Dodig - Marcelo Melo . In the beginning of summer, Lopez played solo finals twice in a row on the British courts. Initially at the Queen's Club, he became the first Spaniard finalist since 2008. After winning the quarterfinal over the sixth racket of the world Berdykh, he then lacked just one won goal in the final match against Grigor Dimitrov to become also the oldest winner of this tournament since 1978, when another left-hander Tony Roch won there [3] . A week later, however, Lopez successfully defended the title in Eastbourne, defeating Richard Gasquet in the final of the 14th World No. Lopez became the first since 2001, a tennis player who played in two consecutive grass finals on the eve of Wimbledon. In fact, Wimbledon, he lost in the fourth round to the fifth sowed Wawrinka. In August, in Toronto, Lopez consistently defeated the 16th racket of the world, Roberto Bautista Aguta , and then Berdych and Milos Raonic , who ranked fifth and sixth in the rankings in the ATP Masters tournament - he had played two previous semifinals in Shanghai. In October, again in Shanghai, Lopez defeated second in the rating of Nadal and once again reached the semifinals, after rising in the tennis hierarchy to the 14th place in his career.
In 2015, Lopez twice lost in the finals of the ATP baseline tournaments - at the beginning of the season in Ecuador, the representative of the Dominican Republic, Victor Estrella, Burgos , who ranked 60 positions lower than his own, and at the end in Kuala Lumpur - the eighth world number one. Ferrer. Over the season, he managed several times to beat rivals from the top ten rankings, among which were Nishikori (in the 4th circle in Indian Wells), Raonic and Rafael Nadal, while he first defeated Raonic and Nadal in one tournament - Cincinnati Masters , and then again beat Canadians in the third round of the US Open on the way to the first quarter-final during this tournament, where he was stopped by Novak Djokovic, who is in the first place in the ranking. Having risen to the 12th place in the rating at the beginning of March, Lopez ended the year at the 17th position. In doubles Lopez also managed to improve his position in the ranking - for the first time since 2004. Already at the beginning of the season, he reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open with veteran Maxim Mirny , losing there to Melo and Dodig, in May the Belarusian-Spanish pair reached the semifinals at the Masters tournament in Madrid, in August - also to the semi-finals in Cincinnati after defeating the fourth a pair of the world Fabio Fonini - Simone Bolelli , and at the very end of the season - to the finals in Valencia, after which Lopez rose to 35th place in the doubles ranking.
2016—2018
The main success of Feliciano Lopez in 2016 fell on the performances in doubles. Already at the very beginning of the season, he, speaking with Mark Lopez , won his second title in pairs in Doha (and the first since 2004). In February, two Spaniards reached the finals in Dubai, beating the second pair of the world, Horia Tekeu - Jean-Julien Royer . At the Masters tournament in Indian Wells, they became semifinalists, and at the French Open they beat the winners of three previous tournament draws, [4] , including those planted first by Nicolas Mayu and Pierre-South of Herbert , and won the championship title - Feliciano’s first career title Grand Slam tournaments. By July, he reached the 15th place in the ATP doubles ranking. Another success Feliciano and Mark Lopez achieved at the US Open, reaching the semifinals after defeating Bob and Mike Bryan , at the time the third pair of the world. As a result, they received the right to participate in the final tournament of the ATP tour in London, but there they managed to win only one victory in the group in three matches - again over May and Erber, losing to less eminent couples - and did not reach the semifinals. Nevertheless, at the end of the tournament Feliciano Lopez entered the top ten of the strongest tennis players in the world in doubles. In the singles, Feliciano was noted for his victory in Dubai over the first racket of the world Novak Djokovic (after which he immediately lost to 57th place in the rating of Marcos Bagdatis ), but then until July showed low results. In July, however, he won his fifth APR singles title, winning the Swiss Open in Gstaad, and soon after that reached the final tournament of the basic category in Mexico.
In 2017, Lopez relatively unsuccessfully spent the first months of the season, losing among other things the doubles match in the Davis Cup and by April dropping to 40th place in the ranking - the worst in the last four years [4] - but then reached two finals in a row in tournaments played on grass cover. He first became a finalist in Stuttgart, where he beat 14th place in Tomas Berdykh’s rating, and a week later won the second category ATP ATPON Championships in London after winning the third and seventh racket of the world (Wawrinka and Marin Cilic, respectively, in addition for the second consecutive victory over Berdykh and the winnings of the 11th racket of the world Grigor Dimitrov ). At Wimbledon, however, he passed the match to Adrian Mannarino already in the first round, complaining of a foot injury, although only a day later he took part in the doubles match, which caused complaints from colleagues and the press [5] . In doubles, Feliciano Lopez lost the finals three times throughout the season, including with Mark Lopez at the US Open and the Masters Monte Carlo tournament . As a result, for the third time in a row, he finished the year among the 50 best players in the world in both singles and doubles.
In the course of 2018, Lopez set a new record for the professional tour, playing in his 66th Grand Slam tournament in a row. It happened at Wimbledon, and at the US Open, the record was brought to 67 performances in a row. In both of these tournaments, however, he dropped out of the fight early - in the second and first round, respectively [4] . During the season, the Spaniard never rose in the ATP tournaments above the quarter-finals, but this result was achieved immediately in five competitions; He also had the fourth round at the Masters in Indian Wells after defeating Jack Sok , the tenth racket of the world, and at the London tournament that preceded Wimbledon, he beat David Goffin’s ninth racket. In doubles, Feliciano won the fourth title for a career in Barcelona with Marc Lopez, and then the Spanish couple made their way to their second semi-final in three years of the French Open, there, however, losing to the first Mate Pavic and Oliver Marah . At the end of the season, Lopez ranked 64th in singles and 32nd in doubles.
