Kozhin, Mikhail Vladimirovich ( April 16, 1886 - March 26, 1966 ) - artist. The father of the archaeologist and religious scholar P. M. Kozhin .
Biography
He came from a family of former serfs of the Saratov province, grew up and was brought up by his uncle, the famous artist of the Maly Theater, M. V. Lentovsky .
Art education in the Stroganov School of Industrial Art with a degree in theater and decorative art.
The development of artistic taste and craftsmanship was promoted by the work in Abramtsevo under S. I. Mamontov , where the young artist met with outstanding masters of the theater and painting.
He started as a set dresser in a private opera in “The People’s House” (Rubinstein’s opera “The Demon”, Arensky’s opera “Dream on the Volga”, Ballet Symphony by Grieg, Gounod’s opera “Faust”, Serov’s opera “Rogneda”).
Together with KA Korovin, the author worked at the Bolshoi Theater .
Under the leadership of Academician S.Solovyov he studied architecture and drafted a restoration project for the monuments of the Smolensk Kremlin .
During the revolution, wrote agit-posters and scenery for agit-performances.
Since 1917, he has been active in party work, meeting more than once with V. I. Lenin , A. V. Lunacharsky , A. M. Gorky .
Since 1939, he has worked with Bolshoi (The Snow Maiden's opera Rimsky-Korsakov) and other theaters.
