Stefan Rice ( eng. Stephen O. Rice November 29 , 1907 - November 18 , 1986 ) - an American scientist whose work had a great influence on the development of communication theory. In the years 1930-1972 he worked at Bell Laboratories . Proceedings on random processes , frequency modulation , etc. In honor of Stefan Reiss the random distribution is named - the Rice distribution

Biography
In 1929, he received a bachelor's degree from Oregon State College in Electrical Engineering ( 1) , writing a graduate work at the California Institute of Technology and Columbia University . After that, he went to work at Bell Lab's technical department. From 1930 to 1968 Art. Rice, working in the laboratory as an information technology consultant, conducted research in the field of communication theory.
C 1968 until his retirement in 1972 Art. Rice served as Head of Communications Analytics at Bell Labs [1] .
In 1961, Oregon State University awarded Stefan Rice a degree in honorary doctorate [1] .
